Sound's like you know a lot about this stuff. You must work in medicine. If you come across info about that early onset study I'd love a link to the info.Dawn, that is remarkable going from secret to openly publicly speaking about it in such a short time, good for him. I don't worry about getting many diseases, but that one I do worry about, my Gma had it, and I see signs of it in my father. He won't listen and go get tested though. My Gma was taking care of a sick and demanding spouse during the early times so we missed recognizing the signs until it was to late for effective treatment. (effective being a reletive term here since none will cure it) they are making some great progress in the amaloyd (sp) plaque recognition and early tx. If I could afford it I would do the new PET scan. I have heard about a new treatment trial if I remember correctly they were wanting early onset to participate in the study. Anyway congrats to your husband, he will do great w/ all his support. And to you and your family![]()
I wish you luck in talking your Father into getting tested. The earlier the treatments start the more successful they tend to be. DH has had some great results from his treatments already.

Yes I think his being asked to represent the walk-a-thon has been the best medicine for him! He feels very honored. I think he is the perfect choice. He is a very sweet soul and has a wonderfully vibrant energy. Not to mention a smile that is just killer (that's him in my avatar pic). lol *yes ,I admit, I am a little biased* It is so good for him to realize that he can do so much good even though he has received this diagnosis.
Thanks,
Sunny
I read everyone's posts to DH and he is so touched by all your responses!!! He is amazed at the positive reactions he has gotten from folks and feels like he has so much support right now. He says it's a great feeling and means soooo much to him!!! Also he says "Hey back, and Thank you!"...
Sunny, Lord have mercy. I know at times it can seem like you're alone but I am with you in spirit. My father had it and my MIL had it too. I also know my wifes' aunt her mothers' sister had it too. So it's something we both think about often as we age.
I watch anything in the news on it and am encouraged that advances are being made everyday. The brain is like a muscle and needs to be exercised to keep the synopsis or whatever they are working and also they can grow back. PBS had a program on it and it was very interesting. That's why your DH is encouraged to learn new things and crochet will help. I know my father took college courses in his senior years. I think this may have help delay things.
Tell your DH hey for me.

We wish you and your wife the best in dealing with this disease in your own family. We are really hoping that with the recent studies and positive results (so early but still very encouraging) we are seeing that our children will not have to deal with this disease. Hope for a cure is definitely in sight. Our hearts go out to you both!!!

Thank you Betty!!! He is so expressive about how much it means to him to have my and the kid's support. I feel a little helpless at times not knowing how to make it a lot easier for him but if us being there can make a difference then he definitely has that at least.Sunny hope all goes well with your DH's speech. How supportive you all are. My prayers are with you both. It must make him feel so much better knwing you all will be there. So far the finger is doing well. I am careful not to hit it as that hurts but otherwise it feels all right. The dogs and my puppy know something is wrong and they all congregate around me to make sure I'm fine. Thank you all for your well wishes.
Another sad note. The appraisal came in low on the house and we're not sure how it will affect the sale. The sellers will have to pull the house off the market if they won't lower the price and just let it set until the economy gets better or the lender will go for the loan anyway. There is a $15,000.00 difference and I know the kids can't come up with the extra.
Hopefully the folks selling the house can just write a letter to the bank letting them know what upgrades they have done to justify the higher price for the house. Most appraisals are cursory and don't take all the upgrades an owner may have made into account.
This happened to DH and I when selling a house about 8 years ago and we wrote a letter to the bank listing the upgrades and their costs one by one. The loan amount was fully approved once we did that. I hope it all works out for them.

Glad to hear the finger is healing well. Still sounds pretty painful to me even if it's only when you hit it.
Thank you Alethea! I agree with you 100%....
Sunny-Your dh's strength and courage are impressive. He's the kind of person who can really help.

You all are such a blessing! I wish we lived close to each other. We would love to give you all a big huge hug!!!
