Summer 2012 Granny "Square" Swap (sign ups closed)

Althea, so sorry to hear about your friend. I'm sure she will appreciate your help. We are dealing with cancer also. My future son-in-law was diagnosed with NonHodgkins Lymphoma this spring. Only 26 years old and they have 2 children and a baby on the way. Very hard and very humbling.
On a lighter note, the weather has finally broken here

!! We hit 93% humidity last week. I lost one of my young hens, I'm assuming to the heat. Hopefully it doesn't return. Now we could use some serious rain! But I'm not complaining.
Have done a bit of crocheting in between getting our winter plow/maintenance bids done. Snow will be flying before we know it! I am also building another coop, for silkies. It looks like a log cabin with a screened in porch on the front! So cute.I'll post pictures when its done. Have a great night peeps!

Oh Dear! And only 26 years old! That is just heartbreaking!!! :(

Still hoping for rain for all of us...

Can't wait to see the pics of the new coop. It sounds too cute!
I can't believe I go back to work a week from today,,
Already?!!!

Wow that thread isn't easy to find. I did manage to find a couple of the colors. They weren't exactly the colors I wanted, but I'll figure out something to do w/ them.
I'm so sorry. They were so easy to find at Joann's when I went. I had no idea folks would have a hard time finding any of these colors.

The prayer shawl is moving along. I didn't have enough of the second yarn, either, so decided to have various stripes and blocks with varying agreeable colors. I was working on it when Gracie the cat got onto my lap. When she got off, there was a cat hair in the yarn. I was going to remove it until I remembered my friend loves cats, so just worked it in.
Awwww, how cute! Now she has your kitty's fur forever woven into her shawl. That is so sweet.
Well here is one of the 6 inch blocks I'm working on. The center of the square isn't crocheted, but woven and embroidered.

OMG! That is adorable!!!

OK Luna don't get nervous! Most of us won't be attempting anything that detailed.

Sunny~ Did you tell the Highway Patrol that you were chatting w/ your chicken crochet friends on a chicken forum?
gig.gif
You are a trooper! Thanks for the congrats on the chicks. They are super cute! I took all the babies from Flopsy Mopsy and gave them to Stella tonight. Flopsy was getting too crazy scratching around spilling food & water and getting all the chicks wet. Stella is a lot calmer, but I'm sure that might change.

DH & I were in class all day for over 81/2 hrs today learning about food handling safety. Back at it tomorrow at 8 am and we will take a test sometime after lunch tomorrow. I guess I should stop procrastinating and go study what we learned today.
LOL! No I didn't even try to explain my BYC & my crochet addiction!!! It was pretty funny. He was very nice though. He was the same age as our kids. When he got ready to drive off he said "Glad to see you're not dead!" *that makes 2 of us*
Woo Hoo got the pattern completely designed all the bugs worked out for the 6X12 block. The prototype is not in the correct colors since I was putzing and redoing it a lot to get the pattern to come out the correct shape and size. Now if I will remember how to repeat it after I get the 6x6 finished

It is also on the different side, but this time all crochet.
Yea!
Smitty-Good question about the highway patrol. I giggle thinking of Sunny sitting in a hot car telling the officer that she just had to check in with her chicken crochet friends.
Hahaha!

I laid my faithful friend Jada to sleep today at the age of 16. She was such a good dog, originally my sons who has since passed away. I just couldn't stand to see her suffer anymore. She just closed her eyes and went to sleep.

I'm so so sorry, Betty!!!!

I know how much you loved her and it was a hard decision to make. I've been in your shoes a few times and it wasn't easy, but one we had to make as well. Thinking of you!!! Jada was a beautiful girl!!!!

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts. I will miss her but it was time. I intend to get another dog but not for a while. My daughter and her family are here for a while, probably until their escrow closes. Their 5 dogs are here also. They are such well behaved dogs and all are big. They cover the living room floor when they all stretch out. They don't even bother my chickens when they're out back. I am still "hooking" but not as much. I'm spending a lot of time in the kitchen.

Betty- I am sorry about the loss of your friend. You are both in my heart and mind. Please take care of yourself.

Betty, I'm so sorry about your friend. I have been there also and its very hard. I know I miss my girl but I also knew it was time for her as well. Enjoy the cooking and your family!

Thanks everyone for your kind words. She was the greatest. Today was the first day I went to feed and water the chickens by myself.

Sunny~ My DD loves the yarn you chose for this swap. She saw it for the first time last night when I finally had time to pull it out to try to caught up to our growing list. She was Ooooo-ing & Awww-ing over it so I threw her some of my started mess ups.
big_smile.png
The mess ups will not go to waste, b/c she will create something out of them. Just a few days ago she and a friend were sewing fabric head bands and her friend sewed one of my mess up crocheted beginnings from other swaps to jazz up her head band. So then she would whisper , Mess up....Mess up!!!!
lau.gif
She thanked me for her pretties before she went to bed.

Betty~

More hugs sent your way! Enjoy your family. I bet you are whipping up all kind of goodies in the kitchen.

Cathy~ The coop you are building for your silkies sounds adorable. How many Silkies do you have?

Alethea~ See you later today. Looking forward to it!!!

I have 8 swaps complete now.
jumpy.gif
Need to get my fingers flying to catch up to the list.

Does any one else have pics to post of their swaps???? Please post if you do.

Still dealing w/ crazy weather. I need to go buy my piggies(chickens) some food and do some cleaning. I will pop back on when I feel the need to procrastinate in between chores.
