Summer reading ideas or maybe a BYC book club.

I need to read more of The Technological Society by Jacques Ellul, but I feel like it'd probably end up depressing me further.

I enjoyed (as literal novels, not religion or politics) the Old testament and Animal farm
I remember reading Animal Farm in 3rd grade. Just thought it was about talking animals LOL!
Just started "Mexican Gothic" because I decided I wasn't ready to commit to a series. It reminded me that I LOVED American Dirt by Janine Cummins. Beautiful novel about the migrant experience. Like a Grapes of Wrath for our times. Wanted to mention that while it was fresh in my mind.

I'm about to start "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" but will need a suggestion after that unless I fall for the series.
If you like it, you'll be anxious to read the other two.
I loved them.

Have also read most, maybe all, of Pat Conroy.

I read addictivly, as an escape/coping mechanism.
Much of what I read is not great literature.
Right now am reading Jodi Picoult The Book of Two Ways.

I just read The Book of Two Ways! I also love everything Conroy, Picoult is always great, and John Irving is a little dark, but very entertaining. Oh, and Larry McMurtry. Lonesome Dove is one of the best of all times! I think Pat Conroy wrote something in 2013 or 2014 that I missed. It is on my list, but I can't remember what it was. Maybe a Great Santini follow up.....
