Summer reading ideas or maybe a BYC book club.

I found Ella Minnow Pea on the app. Looks great! Thanks @Sally PB . Not a new one, but have you read Conrack by Pat Conroy? I love all his books. Not just "The Prince of Tides." Low country poetry!
Oh, wait a minute. Conrack was the movie with Jon Voight. "The Water is Wide" is the name of the book.

I enjoyed (as literal novels, not religion or politics) the Old testament and Animal farm
I remember reading Animal Farm in 3rd grade. Just thought it was about talking animals LOL!
Just started "Mexican Gothic" because I decided I wasn't ready to commit to a series. It reminded me that I LOVED American Dirt by Janine Cummins. Beautiful novel about the migrant experience. Like a Grapes of Wrath for our times. Wanted to mention that while it was fresh in my mind.

I'm about to start "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" but will need a suggestion after that unless I fall for the series.
If you like it, you'll be anxious to read the other two.
I loved them.

Have also read most, maybe all, of Pat Conroy.

I read addictivly, as an escape/coping mechanism.
Much of what I read is not great literature.
Right now am reading Jodi Picoult The Book of Two Ways.

I just read The Book of Two Ways! I also love everything Conroy, Picoult is always great, and John Irving is a little dark, but very entertaining. Oh, and Larry McMurtry. Lonesome Dove is one of the best of all times! I think Pat Conroy wrote something in 2013 or 2014 that I missed. It is on my list, but I can't remember what it was. Maybe a Great Santini follow up.....

Dictionary of the Khazars by Milorad Pavic
Riddley Walker by Russell Hoban
Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula LeGuin
Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
His Dark Materials trilogy by Phillip Pullman

Those are just a few of my favorites. I love to read!
