Support Group for Abused Duck Keepers

You can laugh lol I laugh about it 😂 when my duck went to the vet she started violently tearing into the vets arm so I tucked her into my arm as he looked at her foot and lets just say my arm was covered top to bottom in blood blisters and bruises after that. I let the unknown scary guy touch her little flapper feet I mean how dare I 🫣😂 (I was getting her help for severe bumblefoot I mean I’m so awful I know 😂😂😂)

Oh🫠 I guess I need medieval knight armor before buying muscovy...

Wow!
That makes Dougie look like an angel. The vet had no trouble handling her- Dougie was anxious, but she did so well and the vet got away without a scratch!

I've been mixing it in her water since she isn't very cooperative if I give it directly. I usually mix 5mL per 2cups of water
Mixing it in the water unfortunately doesn’t give them the full dose
I al able to get all my ducks to take it by syringe but if you can’t try a small amount of treats
A few peas , mealworms , banana , scrambled egg
Just make it a little treat size so she eats it all getting the full dose
I did show a video on here how I can check my ducks for bumble foot really easy and that’s also how I hold them to give medicine
I just give little bits at a time so they don’t aspirate
I’ll see if I can find the link again

I don't think she would😅 So far, the only treats she'll take are grapes, bread and paper towls
Bread isn’t good for them
But I have used grapes for antibiotics before
Small grape cut in half pull out some of the inside gives a little bowl
Then squirt the b compex in
You can do this until you get the full dose in

I knock on all wood in my house have not had a duck act up at the vets
I was told dasher is a model patient
Well she should be the vets is her second home 😂
But I have also had
Peep , daisy , beaker and nugget there
None of my vets or myself have got bit
Now watch because I said this it will happen as my ducks are great at making liars out of me 😂

Stopped getting notifs again for a sec. What's everyone's day look like tomorrow duck-wise?
I did as well
I will start my day by getting to clean dashers vent and give her medicine
Then I’ll run around and fill up the 3 kid pools and water buckets as it’s still getting around -4 C at night so rather not beak ice in the morning I just fill in the morning
Then I’m going to clean our garage and get the boat ready for fishing in a few weeks :)
It’s catch and release but we are very competitive and so far I hold the record at this lake between us with 20 pound Jack fish
I’m not going to let hubby or son beat my record :)

I didn't collect eggs for 3 days
I know it's my fault

One of my girls is behaving questionably, I don't know who but I bet it's Dougie.
She's built a beautiful nest, seems to have been sitting on them during the night, and each morning leaves them beautifully covered over and hidden, they're all warm each morning.
This is how she went broody last time so I'm suspicious.

My mother and I had a disagreement on it:

"See, we could just go grab some eggs, slip them into the nest and see what happens- but nooooo, because you have no sense of fun"
"I could just go grab a suitcase and kick you out, but noooooo, because you want somewhere to live"

I get the feeling she isn't thrilled by the idea
