I am not judging anyone but I never let mine in water until they were fully feathered. Even then mine do not have a pond or swimming pool but have deep watering dishes that they bathe in as adults. I have always been concerned about chilling them and making them ill. I guess I take too many precautions but have never lost any or had any get sick so it has worked for me.
I understand being worried we all do worry
I start letting mine in the bath day 3 by 4 weeks in the hot summer they got a kid pool outside supervised By 3 months they were using ponds and pools themselves
Day 3 they are diving under water having a blast
Ducks love to swim that’s what they do they also started to preen and use the oil gland right after first bath

I guess they can be fine both ways, with or without ponds and pools. Mine jump into their 13 water dishes and bathe and have fun doing it that way. Since they have never had a pond or large pool they just don't know what they are missing. lol

I chose to take their pool away for the coldest winter months
My girls preen and oil themselves, but fail to reach some areas, I didn't want to risk wind chill on wet tummies.
But soon as its warm enough got it back out. Only recently they got their blue proper paddle pool back. It was in storage and needed a good scrub first

It just provides so much entertainment and keeps them pretty clean, so I like them having it.
It's funny, Dougie was so excited when I walked to the pen holding it, after their winter break they were SO happy to see their beloved pool! Dougie got right in even though it was empty, lol!

How are my abused friends today ?
I wasn’t abused this morning ;)
They were all so happy to see me filling up waters to splash and play in
You've earned their favour!
....for now.

I wasn't too abused this morning. Gave them some loves, they were in a good mood this morning as the sun is out, the pool is full, toys are out, and there's lots of food!
A recipe for happiness in the eyes of any duck, lol!

Mine also got put away for winter
They only get it when it’s in the plus weather
Deeper ponds won’t be filled for another 2-6 weeks depending on our weather
