Surviving Minnesota!

OK, please tell me what a creamette is.

I gave in and bought eggs yesterday. Luckily, I found a guy about a mile from me that sells eggs. $2.50 a dozen. So, even though most of my girls are free loading, I don't have to eat store bought eggs.
A Creamette is a name Ralphie coined, short for a Cream Legbar the ones who lay the diamond encrusted eggs, because a Cream Legbar trio cost him a kings ransome. lol. and a roo is a Creamer so as not to confuse them...

I know everyone seems tosay it takes 2 weeks with the lights to get eggs, but I am getting more eggs already. I got 8 yesterday.
I had no plans to turn on the lights this early, but I needed to put a heat lamp on my home made waterer to keep it from freezing. I put the heat lamp on a timer with the regular light bulb, So I have heat on the drinking cups from 4 am until 4 pm. Which gives them time to drink.

The creamettes have light from 4-9 am. Them I planned to light up this early, I need their eggs to start hatching in January. I will be making some changes today also. I have to pull a BA pullet out of the creamettes pen, (she grew up with the Creamettes. thinks she is one) And I have a half breed in there, It is a creamette EE cross. Kind of an "so ugly it is cute bird".
I finally started getting eggs from my EEs! lights have been on for a couple weeks and they are getting over molt.

Hencam, Fi looks awful, molting, but at least she is with the others today.
I really like the way you "storm windows" work. Did you get a deal on the plexiglass?

Ah, got it, thanks! :) Regular Legbars, or something fancy?

5 of my babies are Cream Legbars, from the Reese line I think. I got two boys and 3 girls. :)
I think he would call them 'Crested cream legbars' but started calling them creamettes/creamers after a legbar fanatic tried to rip him a new one for calling it crested or something silly like that.

Calling them Creamers and Creamettes works to fix that I guess. LOL

Thanks BC, We are getting closer to leaving, I will be doing morning chores and we have to wait for the drugstore to get a few prescriptions ready.

The dogs are in the doggy motel. I took them yesterday afternoon.

I will give Carrie your greeting and wishes to meet her. We have a little stumbling block to a happy life together though.

I am sure she will give up the diaper wearing rug rat, but I understand she has some little FooFoo dogs. They have to go I like real dogs *labs*. I cannot change to FooFoo's at my advanced age.
