Surviving Minnesota!

My white broody Cochin hen, Marshmallow, hatched out four out of four eggs this weekend, the babies are so cute!

Marshmallow is the foster mom, I would've hatched her eggs but she went broody Dec 31 and we didn't have any of her eggs left

Ralphie, I like your thinking on the feed bill, but I am not sure you will get enthusiastic response from Judy on that?

Jerry, using the recessive white won't you produce black, or is the other side white also?

Violetsfeathers, unknown to most is that there are some beautiful places in Iowa. I used to live near The Ledges State Park. but my favorite area is along the bluffs traveling south from Council Bluffs.

I live about 10 miles from cabela's which is surprisingly a fairly common way for me to describe where I'm from and actually have people know where I'm at! It has become a little less unique since Cabela's has opened many more stores. We used to have the only one in the upper Midwest!

You could just say you live 10 minutes west of the Wicked Witch of the South too...

I did not live there, we would drive past there on our way to MN every holiday/summer though.

Ralphie, are you keeping a running tabulation of the number of chicks you are hatching? If so it is probably not best to allow Judy to see the numbers.
Have you had a hatch from the GQF and how has it worked if so?
Although it is above freezing here this morning, it is a gray ugly day at this point. As you well know the Duluth area can have a lot of these days with high humidity and a breeze off the lake.
The Palm trees on Park Point are not doing too well. I think I attempted to plant them there a little early, maybe 100 years early.

Based on the color of your sweatshirt I'm good to hazard a guess you are a falcon? To which I say boo :)
I won't judge though because you have chickens and that outweighs it haha

Ralphie - its raining outside? I had better go look. I have not looked outside yet today. Cept when I let the dogs out about 5:15. Perfect morning for working in the office on those #*^- quickbooks.

This afternoon I get to spent time with two grandsons'. THAT I can look forward to.

The SS are starting to outgrow SC. I moved them to a larger brooder yesterday. They are loving it. I will take a picture after I make breakfast.
