It is pouring here now. But I don't think we will have a lake in the end. WOW.

ROFL hubby just pointed out, we DO have a lake at the end... we're at the headwaters of the north fork of the Roanoke river, which eventually dumps into Smith Mountain Lake.It is pouring here now. But I don't think we will have a lake in the end. WOW.
Oh my heavens-however i do have to admit sometimes mother nature at her worst brings us some amazingly beautiful photos
mine thought it entirely too WET today... granted it only rained for maybe an hour to an hour and a half total between 2 thunderstorms... and about 5" of rain. no idea how none of the babies or momma washed down the mountain.
here's our new 'lake' hubby came home to. and had to wait for it to drain some. he took a 2 hour nap in his car.

its alright! and they are in right now!I'm sorry to hear you're down to 4. Keeping my fingers crossed for those. I remember the day I finally got frustrated with my still air incubator and broke down and got my Hovabator 1588.
When do the SFH eggs you got from me go into lockdown?
So you have buff cochins, too? That's what my daughter is looking for...
LOL no matter what you THINK you've got, it's likely to be sneaky and develop into a roo late. I had 2 do that to me. at 7 weeks old I said, ok these 2 have NO comb or wattles. so they're girls. picked up another boy and BAM! the 2 decided they wanted to be boys too... so good luck. I doubt you'll have to wait until it crows or lays eggs at least. LOLAt what age can I send you experts a photo and have you tell me what sex you think a chick might be??
Junior, my younger silver grey dorking roo, did that to me last spring at about the same age. he'd stepped on a thorn or something I think. never did figure it out. but I put him in an isolation cage, big enough to turn around in and lay down while eating and drinking. wire floor btw. kept him in there for about a week or so then let him back out. he was still gimping a little but not nearly as bad as before.Okay... a little nervous here...
My 21 wk cockerel is limping - not putting weight on left foot. Caught him briefly and checked foot but didn't see any visible issues. He was really fighting to get loose and I hope I didn't make things worse by catching him during the day.
I'm concerned because of all the issues I keep hearing everyone having w/the sfh leg problems.
Any thoughts on what I should do for him?
Isolate to keep him from trying to roost? Just wait it out and see what happens? ........?
