Swedish Flower Hen Thread

Well it is gonna happen this week. I'm getting my replacement eggs (there should be about 15 of them) and since i'm gonna set those, I figured it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and order some more eggs from a different breeder, so I have 10 more coming on thurs or friday. I can't wait to try out my new bator! So much for no hatching till spring! ~ I can totally blame Bear!!

I can't wait. I've got 5 SFH eggs under my broody hen (my mean broody hen, i should add!). 4 are definitely growing 1 looks like a quitter, but I left them all in there. They're due to hatch out friday!!! I can't wait!! I hope they do good and that momma is nicer to her babies than she is me!

I'm just going to jump right in.

A friend gave me some chicks in may. The only SFH turned out to be a very pretty boy. He's about 5 months old now.

She had 14 more youngsters and has to sell her flock and I got 4 pullets to go along with my boy!

They really are very friendly, curious birds.
I have the boy in a different pen with my layers until his girls get a little older.

The youngest and the runt. LOVE this little lady.

And my awesome crested. Now let me just say I'm not a fan of crested chickens. But her coloring is amazing!

Hope they do well! Mine are growing so fast! A lot of firsts for me this hatch. I've never done a staggered hatch, so I have never had multiple ages in the brooder together either. I must say I was a little worried about putting the new ones in with the older ones (10 days older), but they have been fine.

Thanks!! Thats what I was hoping for. I picked a variety and a crested so I'll get colorful chicks and hopefully a couple more crested's. Cant wait to hatch out a whole big flock of them!

Got a few months wait though, even though my boy is ready to get things moving.

Did you put them in on Friday or Saturday? I thought that you received them on Saturday. I'm afraid that you will be disappointed if you expect them on Friday. If you put them in on Saturday it should be Saturday or even possibly Sunday if it was late Saturday. Good luck! Can't wait to hear how it goes.
