What is a fair price for birds in everyone's opinion?
Are those Seramas?
-Are they pure bred? I've seen chicks go from 5-10 (I've paid $15 per chick before, diff breed) and I've seen hens go from $15-30 (sometimes more if rare) depending on breed and age, heritage etc.
I can't say whether painting bottom of nest boxes would hurt but as far as clean up goes, I put peel and stick vinyl flooring tiles in mine. They wipe down like a breeze
You know...I can't believe I didn't think of that. I was planning on doing that for the coop..didn't think about the nesting boxes..may be making a run to home depot.
Thanks for the reminder!!

Went out to water the chickens to find that my 5 EE in the small coop gone. Nothing but feathers left I guess a raccoon got the roof up and got inside. No blood or anything else around inside or outside the coop. Just lots of feathers. I knew I should have put a latch on the roof but thought its over 2ft off the ground and not very light in weight so never thought a coon could get in. So now the only bantams I have are my silkies. Going to put latch and d rings on everything plus buy me a live trap and see what I get.
Thought I would post on this...read it while doing my catch up...DH suggested using carpet tack strips to keep critters from climbing. He used it on the legs of his deer feeder and it worked great to keep the coons from climbing to get to the corn. We found blood evidence where they had tried to climb. Put them high enough that your birds can't get into them. They are cheap and easy to nail up or secure with zip ties....just an idea that might help. magpie

That's actually a great idea! I haven't had a break in yet, but I just might go ahead and put some on my coops to prevent break ins. I bet it will work just as well on cats and dogs as coons.

Just had a nice shower pass over. Rain is moving to the north. Hope you get some if you need it
I'll take it...but it has a ways to go

Actually, I DON'T want it. I have to continue painting tonight and I do not have a garage..lol

I am in Lubbock (well, Wolfforth), but unfortunately am not in the market for any new boys. I have four 9-week-old cockerels, and they are playing Survivor to see who won't be going to freezer camp.
