Texas

Hello, Texas! I am in North Texas (Irving), with 8 pullets - three Ameracaunas, a Barred Rock, three Blue Cochins, and a bantam Mille Fleur D'Uccle. I also have 5 Blue Cochin cockerels, very handsome, but 5 too many for me. The Cochins are too heavy to get over the fences, but my other pullets are very comfortable free-ranging. Eventually I'll have to do something about that!
Hi! I am new here, and just joined after being adopted by a stray chicken. We built her a coop, and have food, treats and straw, but no companion. After reading, it seems like that is very important to our girls! I am in Euless. Can I take a chicken off your hands and give her a good home? I just need one female of any age, who is pleasant and not aggressive. Thanks for all

:frow Howdy from Rosenberg! Congratulations on being adopted!

I had to look up Euless. We were in Sulphur Springs yesterday. I sure love the country in that area.

I wish you luck in finding a companion for your hen. What color is she?

Hi! Yes, sorry, we are in Euless. Right here near DFW airport. Shimmer, named by my five year old, looks to be a black star to me. She is very friendly

Has anyone noticed the migration of Mexican Hawks (not sure what the official name is) lately?
Or anyone had recent losses from these hawks?
I lost one on Saturday, and wondering when approx the migration is over?

What type of bird are you calling Mexican Hawk? I have Caracaras around here all the time. They hang out with the turkey vultures and they don't bother my flock.

Having said that, a couple of weeks ago I did have a Cooper's Hawk attack one of my hens. I was able to get outside and stop it before major damage was done.
