Yin- did you have any frizzled hatched? Mate a roo? Maybe a roo that needs to come live on my farm?

I did have a bunch hatch (would have to check the paperwork and see just how many since I had several hatches going off that day).. and yup.. I have you down for a frizzled roo.. so hopefully I get several out of that batch.

now it's just waiting to see who has frizzle feathers when they start to grow out.. if I end up with all smooth birds you can bet I will be getting more eggs!

I also have hatchery frizzles on order.. but even with them I have no guarantee that I will be sent a frizzle and not a smooth

I am so excited about a frizzle, it's scarey lol. I seriously want a bunch of frizzled blue egg layers lmao.

And chicken math keeps striking. What is the recommended sq ft of coop with an attached run per LF bird again???

As for Roos..

One of the things I breed for are nice personalities in the roosters. I always handle my birds.. even the boys. And some of the nicest birds I have had were roosters that were handled a lot. If I get a nasty roo.. he goes to freezer camp. No exceptions

Yep as I said there is always an exception to the rule and if it was going to be anyone it would be Yinepu

You really should start classes on how to raise chicks for new people and "old" people alike!!!

I still have to post pics of the latest babies.. hopefully I get a chance tomorrow.. lol.. this is the first chance I've had to sit down all day!

I also heard back from the breeder where we will be getting our newest LGD.. she said the pups are three weeks old and we're getting pick of the litter since we have been on her waiting list the longest

.. so in a few weeks we'll have a new addition to the family!
Congratulations on the new addition. Good luck squeezing in a new puppy, along with everything else you have going.

Bikerschick and txnative: Welcome to the BYC!!!

Bikerschick: Just going by your name, what kind of bike do you ride?
oh.. one thing I need to mention about the Brinsea brooders.. be sure to check the wiring.. especially where it goes into the unit. i had a bad one from Brinsea that had exposed wires (fire and shock hazard)
Yinepu, thanks for the advice. I just got mine in yesterday. Will be checking it out.

Good Morning Texans! I heard 6 tornadoes hit last night in N. Texas. Is everyone okay?

Lisa :p

my favorite was "Fred".. hatchery roo that i rescued from some boys who were hosing him down since he had fallen out of the hatching rack and hit the floor..
He ended up being the one who would come in and watch TV and go for rides sitting on my lap in the car.. he was also "housebroken" (would go outside to do his business then come back in and hop up on the couch to watch TV). He was a snuggle bug too.
