Texas

I'm pretty sure they are hatchery birds. I bought them in a "I don't want them any more so take all 3" chick bundle for a SLW. I don't plan on breeding them, I don't like them lol. They are my husbands birds, well, let me rephrase. My husband owns a palomino horse, and these are the horses palomino chickens.

I had a hen named Buffy...she was eaten but not by me.

...poor Buffy!

I'm late with this, but here's a pic of my flock in the snow. It snowed more heavily than I think I've ever seen in my life. But then I've only seen snow like 4 times haha. This is the day after it snowed, when about half had melted off.

Good Morning Fellow Texans!

Beautiful birds Galanie!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day. We have pea soup fog again, but it is warm out.

Ya'll be careful coming home tonight. Our winter weather is suppose to hit again. Tomorrow won't be fun for those of you driving to work. :(

Lisa :)

We got home safe and sound! My new gold laced wyandotte chicks are nice and toasty warm inside my room, enjoying the heat of a lamp after the long trip. I had to give them some ACV and a pinch of electrolyte powder to make sure they were perked up, but I think they'll be fine.

I really enjoyed the trip and it was a nice break from being trapped in the house. I'm ready to start painting again! Tomorrow, I think I'll get to work, but for now, I'm exhausted.
So glad you made it home safe with all the cargo!
Will you guys get any of this weather tonight/tomorrow? (you re down south Texas aren't you?)

Yup, we are in Harlingen. It's about 62 degrees right now and the sun isn't even fully out yet, haha! Tonight, it's going to be in the 40s and tomorrow, it'll probably be about 34 degrees. The issue is that it'll probably rain tomorrow, too, so it'll be cold and wet. The chickens are going to be locked away in the coop for awhile either way. One of them always does something really stupid like running out into the rain, haha!

It's definitely going to be cold to me and most of my chickens, so I'm going to just make sure they stay nice and warm. The new muscovies are roaming the yard now, so I might have to catch them to put them in our small coop, but from the looks of it, they slept on the patio with one of my rat terriers. I might just let them sleep there tonight. They've been in colder weather, from what I understood. Our tropical winters don't really compare to San Antonio or Northern Texas winters, haha!

Nope not chicken coops just amishcoops.com
Those are pretty and pretty expensive!

It has hit north TX already. The winds really kicked up over night. It woke me! It is a blustery day out there. So glad I don't have to go out unless I want to. The windchill is 18*. The wind is N @ 28mph with 36mph gusts.
The house feels really drafty today. I'd like to strip the house to the studs and put in that spray foam insulation. I'd get new wiring and plumbing while I was at it. Of course the foundation should be fixed first.... It's easier to wait for the wind to stop and the weather to warm up. Come on Thursday and Friday!!!!
