So, even after deciding that I'm not going to hatch BCMs (they're a little too expensive for me) I still can't find anything I want to hatch.

I have two incubators fired up for the event, and only one tiny batch of eggs due to arrive in March. (Which are calls no less, and notoriously hard to incubate) I totally can't decide what else to hatch. so I'm pretty much in the same boat... Finding eggs this time of year is hard, (especially for someone like me who mainly does rare breed waterfowl and game birds) and finding breeders who will ship eggs properly for the cold weather is even harder.....
I am pretty sure I'll be banging my head against the wall by the first week of March...

I tried hatching calls almost 2 years ago and they really are hard to hatch. Then again, they only luck I ever have with duck eggs is when my mallard hen goes broody. She's got 11 of her own eggs under her right now. When it's time to set mallard derived eggs hers will be hatching.

Hatch rates will be lower for eggs older than 2 weeks. Shipped eggs should not be older than 7 days because of the added stress from shipping.

Older eggs will still hatch--I would not set eggs older than 30 days and if I did I would watch them very closely for rotting.

Thank you ron for this information!

Just got some RIR and OE eggs set up with another member that's in my state. So I'll have some for the hatch. I just need to find some SLW eggs and I'll be set.
