The Honeymoon is Over
Bob, the wheaten Ameraucana rooster, was not tired of honeymooning, but his wife, Marian was. She was getting a little threadbare. They were moved to separate quarters so Marian could rest up and Bob could share his enthusiasm for flock rooster duties with Leroy, now that Silver had moved on. It seems, though, that Bob is a lover, rather than a fighter and Leroy did not take kindly to this activity. On the first day Bob went out to free range with his new flock of party girls, Leroy made sure Bob was kept away from the Big Girls.
After a few hours, there was a knock at the door. The Neighbor Down the Road was there and said that she had seen Bob strutting down the dirt road near her house, apparently looking for some action. Then he turned the corner onto the paved road and continued. She and her husband were afraid that Bob would become a grill decoration, so they netted him and brought him home. What a great Neighbor Down the Road! The Chickendads will have to take her some of Marians beautiful blue eggs.
After he returned home, Bob was trying to figure out how to get into the coop. He had been in the Honeymoon Hotel for some time, so he had forgotten about the pop door into the coop. Bob is beautiful, but when his wheel is spinning, the hamster is dead. He made many trips around the coop in both directions until Mrs. Chickendad came out to help. Barbara stuck her head out the door looking for treats (Mrs. Chickendad=treats) and Bob finally connected the puzzle pieces. All the Girls came out, Bob shot into the coop, hungry and thirsty after his big trip. The girls gave up, went back into the coop and jockeyed for position. Bob sat down on the end of the roost and preened himself. He wanted to look good for his new girls.
