The Health Care Law.

ONe thing sticks out in my mind when you all were discussing about everyone who is healthy, physically able to pay into the health care, what if there isn't enough healthy strong people population wise? We have MANY more elderly people and sick people that can not work.

The balance of elderly, handicapped/disabled people vs healthy people working is off kilter. We have to pay into it much more than our ancestors did.

While discussing health care reform, why does it seem that people have completely forgotten that government run health care has been happily embraced by the elderly for many years? It should be means tested to continue successfully. The premiums are wayyyy out of touch with the real world costs of health care.

I wouldn't say happily. I would say out of necessity it was embraced, and I will add I've seen many elderly people pass up medical treatment (and die) so they could eat.

I optimistically believe that the general welfare clause of the constitution does reasonably apply to making sure that people in this country do not lack the most basic living essentials, including but not limited to, at least the most minimal in health care, but I am not a fan of mandates. I'd prefer some sort of urgent care centers that provide assistance via means testing.
