The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Here they are, my 11 chicks from Joy that were hatched August 29th (right Joy?) ...so they'll be 8 weeks old in 3 days.

ETA: I did a head count as I was putting the chicks to sleep and I have:

1 Splash cockerel
1 Blue cockerel
1 Black cockerel
2 Black pullets
1 Black undecided, leaning towards pullet but it has wattles where as most of the other pullets don't.
5 Blue pullets

So, 3 cockerels and 8 pullets (if the unverified black is a girl.

It was kind of windy today, so if the birds look even more fluffy than usual, that's probably why.

My favorite blue pullet, she used to be the lightest when they were first feathering in, now she's the biggest!

Fluffy butts, for you Joy.

This is Alice, my lightest blue, I love her! She looks small in this picture, but you can see in different shots she's just a round as the others.

One of my BW Ameraucana hens jumped up on the fence and started screeching towards the end of the video, I think all the babies surprised her! LOL!

You can see all 73 pictures in the album that I created, here .

Jermey why don't you just ship Alice back to the South to me. Love her color. LOOKs like a nice group you have there.

Jeremy - the pictures are great !! You really do take fantastic pictures. I can't believe how great they are looking, and how much they have grown !! Alice is a beauty, but I am in love with Beth (the chicken) HAHAHA. Your blue roo looks wonderful !!! Am trying to think of a "Royal" name for him. As Beth (the woman) says, they have some might large "bosoms" already !!

I remember you telling me that Charlie was really slow to feather, but I had NO idea just HOW slow !! WOW. Well, those feathers were definitely worth waiting for, because he a very very handsome man. Winston is huge, but he is such a big baby. I hope he stays as sweet as he is now. I am really looking forward to crossing their lines as well. They should produce some really outstanding offspring.

Now if Winston and CLementine would just hurry up and get through this molt !! I haven't had an egg from Clementine since the end of July !!

Chery - You definitely need to keep us updated with photos on your little nekkid guy. I really want to see what he looks like when he grows up !!

Pokes your bantams are very nice. I would love to get some eggs from you when they start laying or a cockerel if possible.

These photos don't have anything to do with chickens, but thought I'd post them over here because I loved them.

We have 6 pairs of hummingbirds that come here every summer. This past summer they were crazy !! They were constantly fighting over the feeders. I have two feeders, but they always wanted to go to the same one and would fight over it. My front porch was a war zone !! We had to be careful - I seriously was afraid that one of those little guys were going to put an eye out zooming all over the porch. They would go sit in the butterfly bush beside the porch, or in one of hte maple trees in the front yard and guard those feeders. When another hummingbird tried to feed at the feeder, they would zoom over and fight and try to run each other off.

Anyway, I was sitting on the porch one day and was able to take these photos of them. The last picture has 5 of the 6 hummingbirds - I tried to get all 6, but could only get 5.

Watching from the butterfly bush.
