The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

So is there any trick to cleaning a fluffy chickens rear? I think my girl Annie had some runny stool after some treats recently. I took some front shots of her today so you don't have to see her gross behind. Annie (2 months) is the friendliest of all my teenage pullets now.

Just take a pair of scissors and trim the feathers. Just be careful not to cut too close that you risk cutting their skin. (it's hard to see sometimes, I had to do this with one of my Marans and it was so hard to see)

That is great Kathy. I sure am hoping to start getting a few eggs soon. I need to set up breed pens when that happens.

So Kathy and Katy I've just started reading the LF heritage thread. Only to page 50 or so. And as much as I DONT need another breed you guys really make me want a couple of BRs or SLW. They're GORGEOUS!!! .....
This is where y'all try to talk me out of them and convince me that no one has any available and you don't know where in the world I could ever find some super nice ones.

Ok. Back to fluff butt awesomeness.

So Kathy, how long did you have to wait for that first egg? How old is your pullet?

3-29-2010 hatch, so that would be around 33 weeks old.

If only I could talk myself out of some of these breeds! I have several breeds, but the ones I will never get rid of are few (I think)....

By history, it appears I lust (overwhelming desire or craving) for a breed, search for good quality, get them, raise them until they start laying, and then sell them at point of lay.....

By the way, I do not recommend this! LOL

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the English Orps, Heritage Barred Rocks, and Delawares, (and daughter's Silver Laced Wyandotes) and will never get rid of these. I have raised and sold off many other breeds, (but I did keep a trio of a few of them "just in case")....
