The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

LOL I haven't even started my garden yet... WE just had 3 cold days... and this morning ... one of my goats had her baby :)
I didn't plant one this year but The Lord willing I will next year. I love to be able to pick fresh squash and onions and taters. I did buy a huge fresh Cabbage last week at a local grocery store for 1.50 and Wow was it good. I cooked some ham pieces then put the outside older leaves to cook and then after a while added the rest and cooked cut and cooked some good old pone cornbread ithe oven in a cast iron skillet and enjoiyed and warmed up the next nite with company and cooked more cornbread and nearly all eaten. Hoping I can get another one tomorrow. I know it is late but I want to plant some Sun Flowers. I can give the seeds to the Chickens in the fall and I love to see them, Flower arrangments and so forth

Thank you!
That's a barely six month old cockerel standing behind his dad. He is huge. The third boy was hiding .They are all very sweet with people.
They're beautiful!!!!...I have three Jubilee boys and one just didn't look all that great....I thought I'd just sell him off. He's taller than the others, but his neck feathers are not full like the others...then remembered he's younger. He's now turning into a huge beautiful boy....he'll be around for awhile and now have to decide which of the other two whoa re as beautiful, but not as big, to sell. Uggg such choices. LOL

I love sunflowers too.. I planted some of those giant ones in front of my house one yr.. :)

Yaya, Wow! Wouldn't dream of showing you my failed attempt this year. My tomatoes and green beans seem to be doing well despite my efforts. My soaps were a hit. Made with fresh egg yolks and goat's milk. I've needed to be really creative on using all the eggs my girls give our family and the neighbor's families.

I didn't know you could plant your BOSS I will have to give it a try. A lady at our Church tonite told me she had bought and planted me some Sunflowers today in pots and will bring them to me when they a inch or so high. I am stoked.
Dee, I didn't know you made soap too.
My chickens keep all the green clean up around the edges of the pens. I like to let mine ouit to free range but I have to be here when I do. You never know when a stray dog may come wondering up. Ask me how I know

Beautiful garden yaya..

We had frost two night ago..I have not planted my garden yet. I started and the birds came to help. Now I have to start over. They were having so much fun I just let them. I was going to try the new *straw bale* planting method. I guess they decided it was not a good idea.

I may be in the market for a Jubilee roo in the next couple of months. The ONLY one that had a really dark mahogany color decided to escape his coop a week ago (no clue how) and got too cold overnight. :(
