..He does look a bit older than 2 mos., hes certianlly going to be a good looking rooster.. I have a couple that have comb that size approaching 3 mos.havnt weighed them yet..but lot of people use the old 5 gallon bucket to guage size..maybe you could set one out there and get a pic or 2....hes going to be a good flock sire, hope you have some nice pullets to go with him...

.these were hatched mar 29th. photo taken last week.

the very best thing you can do is have those big pastures..it encourages them to grow properly and big! the big birds need to develop muscle and bone that can carry the big frame..you know that from having horses..everytime they move they stress the bone and it rests and gets stronger..they get nutients out of that pasture that cant be duplicated in the feeds and in my opinion, there is too much soybean in feeds that should be replaced with oats, alfalfa or something else.

I agree on growing livestock out on grass. We are old fashioned here and everyone is out including our cutting stallion. The babies grow so much better, happier and healthier. I feed my growing birds fermented feed twice a day. I call it slop, they attack me for the bucket, lol.

LOVE the cutting horses..they are my favorite of the western world..true workmen..we have warmbloods , should say had, gave them up for health reasons.. big horse needs big room..same with big chickens..at least the big birds need to be out in a reasonable space .. they need to move around when they run around they tear down muscle, then when they rest the muscle - bone expands and grows..its the same in all species..good feed and room make nice birds..

there is always the genetic anomoly where they are just weak legged but its maily when much thinner breeds were added at some point and roll the dice the weak bone comes out with a big frame...but its pretty rare in good breeder pens. all three varieties , blue, blk and buff that we have here here are in the biggest leg NPIP inspection bands made..in fact she told me the one may need to be taken off at some point..on a couple of the birds we added wing bands just in case I have to take the leg bands off..

I tried to get pics of the babies today- they mostly came out blurs because of how busy they are all the time. I did catch this guy drinking water, was about the only decent shot. I'll try to get more later of the others. In the 2nd you can see part of 2 others... They are about 4-5wks now I think?

They're so cute! Mine are about 6-8 weeks old now. They're adorable and growing quickly! I can't wait until they are older.

I also agree & I also feed fermented feed to mine. I've seen a huge difference in them since switching to it! And yes they will take ya down over it too, kinda scary

One of our Partridge girls started laying today! Very excited. :D Her comb has been red for the last two weeks so we have been waiting. She's the better sized of our two girls but a couple of weeks younger.
