Cheryl and Jole , thanks for the advice on the hot wire. It is a big dog , looked like it would weigh around 40 to 50 lb. maybe more. I would say its head was about 30 high at the top. Looked like a large terrier mix. Broad too. I am going to check tomorrow and see where I can buy the thing that despenses the heat. I have wire. and I will check and see what else i need. Maybe is will be less expensive than some other things.

Good luck Julie, my two 85 lb Labradors let the chickens run circles around them, with the exception of a few times when the dogs run into a big flock of them so they all fly into the air..pretty funny I guess from a dog's perspective.

Hey Julie, I've got 5 of Tuffoldhen's eggs from your English pen going into lockdown tomorrow. AHHHH can't wait for fluffy butts. It will be fun to see how they compare to the one black orp american I had hatched from Jody/Hinkjc - she is enormous,her name is Oprah

I've got a splash cockerell!!! Hatched eggs from gumpsgirl about 6.5 weeks ago and the splash is definitely boy. Also think one of the blues is boy also

so that leaves 2 more blues to decide to be hens!

CHeryl I saw your black girl and she looks really good. I am very pleased with my pullets this year. I had some really good ones last year too. I hope yours turn out real well and to your liking. I have one blue pullet six month old yet and she has a wonderful tail. The angle is awesome. Some young ones looking the same way.


On the dog. it is not one of my neighbors dogs. I don't know where the thing is coming from . i have driven around in the day time and have not seen it.
I live way out in the country buy dogs will travel for miles at nite roaming.

I don't know if her's are English or not, but seems like I read that they were just US orps. But, no worries BuffBeauty - I'm just always on the lookout for English orps.
