I think he would be a good addition to your lavs.Ok question, I have a gorgeous Black cockerel from a Blue, Black, Splash hatch. Would he be good to put over my American Lavender Orps or would I make a mess why?

You'll not make a mess and in fact this is the perfect type of black for your lavenders.
A Black from a BBS breeding does not have the gene for "blue" to pass on. The way that gene works, if it's there, they will be either blue or splash. If it's not there, it just isn't. So the bird is black.
So it will not make a mess at all.
As for why this is the perfect black to use, it's because he is from a BBS line and so hopefully does not have the gene for "Gold" that a properly bred "pure" black would have (serves to enhance black). Breeding to one with the gold gene would cause red or brown to bleed through.
This is the type to use when breeding to blues as well, for the same reason.
So will the offspring come out black split to lavender and lavender or will I have splash also?
I got some adult Partridge orpingtons from greenfire when they sold their original imports. i got them in the middle of august and they immediately started molting. coming from Florida to California im sure the climate change helped them into it. well here we are almost January and no eggs yet. at all. is that normal? does it usually take this long for them to molt and resume laying?
