The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Ahhhh what a cute name! Sorry to hear about your mauve. Currently all Eng. Orps are running together, so I know one of my BBS's got to my Chocolate Orps :) I'm hatching eggs under broody hens, can't wait to see results. Just something fun, before I separate everybody! lol

This is Marshmallow Peep. She is supposed to be a Mauve Orpington. She is a Mauve Splash. I didn't even know there was such a thing. Neither did the breeder. Has anyone else encountered this? Her splashes are all mauve.

Here she is with her sister.

The splashes aren't blue, either. They are greyish brown to tan.

Given that this is a "chocolate splash" is it possible that what this breeder has is really dun and not true chocolate? She felt this pullet was due to mating her chocolate with a blue to get mauve, but I'm not sure it can produce a splash with chocolate splashes.

My story about how Lots 'A' Cluckin' Farm stared, was published in this months edition of Hobby Farms Magazine! July/August edition! My story is on pages 6 and 7!

If you read my story, the project lavenders that are mentioned are no longer projects they are pure lavender orpingtons! Also in addition to the BBS and Lavender Orpington eggs I will also be offering Chocolate and Jubilee Orpington eggs for sell in early spring 2015! All of my Orpingtons are English!

You can subscribe by visiting their page! Or you can purchase the magazine at pretty much any magazine rack! (I know for sure TSC carries them!)

I loved your story and I'm so happy that your venture into chicken keeping has taken off! Your story gives me hope in my own undertaking into chicken keeping, exploring the different breeds, fallling in love with a few and trying to become better in learning to breed and sell chickens. Thanks so much for sharing it.

Sad this evening. My husband is finally calling it and putting down one of my gold laced orpington hens. She's been unable to lay for I dont know how long. She tries to lay and the egg breaks inside her and the egg innards sowly just leak out. Then the shell less membrane would come out a little and I would just pull it out the rest of the way. She's been slowly getting sicker and sicker. Today she spent allllll day in the nest and was almost dead when I got her out. I've been trying everything. Oyster shell, and all that stuff and no improvement. Poor girl

A friend of mine has a quad of English Lavender Orps for sell! Contact me if you are interested! He lives in Cleveland TN

These are the birds that you would be buying! The rooster is 22 months old and the Hens are about 15 months old. The rooster is sun bleached but when he molts most of that should come out!
