thought I was on his waiting list but I guess he needed some money to keep raising all the birds he is probably hatching out. I cant wait until he gets his reds.

Hi OSUman,

Is it wrong to try to break even for the import costs of these birds? And don't worry, I hatched plenty of chocolate chicks and they are feathering out right now.

No there is nothing wrong with trying to get your import costs back...it is expensive to do what you did. I would bid on them myself, but I am on your list too. I noticed the owner of the site is bidding on them like crazy....he must have changed his mind about scaling back on chickens....they must be too much temptation for him..LOL

I wasnt saying it was wrong to break even, at least you made sure you had the birds before you tried to sell them. And I didnt mean to make it sound that way if I did.

Jean, those Ameraucanas would be super fluffy for several generations, the UK Orpingtons are nothing like the American birds. They are HUUUGE and have plenty of cushion in their tush.

Mahogany Ameraucanas sound lovely though, I cannot wait for those birds.

planning out my new coop...I am putting a low roosting bar in the orp pen part of the coop, do you put your nesting boxes on the floor for these girls or do you elevate them a little?

Hi Chicken Friends,

Just wanted to say "hey"

I've been MIA for a few weeks - have been on a working vacation and was too tired to even turn on the computer, much less type.

Just trying to catch up on the thread - some great pictures, I see !!

I took some pictures of my GL chicks yesterday- they are almost 6 weeks old. I'll try to get them posted this evening/afternoon.
