Need some advice. I don't have a picture of it yet, but will try this weekend. I have a 50% blue English roo that is 6 months old and is showing some "red leakage" in the feathers around his neck. As luck would have it, he is in the top two for type and size at this point of the 9 roosters I'm growing out in this B/B/S 50% pen. It is not noticeable at a glance, but is definitely there and is not from the sun.
I've read some that say you should remove these from breeding and others say to choose type above all else and worry about color later. I'm curious as to other's experiences---would his offspring consistently show this flaw, or is it more like a "sport" that would only rarely show up in future generations?
I just hate to waste such an enormous, typey bird.
Also, while I think I understand that this leakage just happens in some blues, does it signify any genetic difference that would have value in breeding to other colors? Thanks!
