The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

how old are yours now.. Im at 9 months , nothing yet..the australorps start between 5 and 6 months so this is new to me, and if it wasnt for all of you..I might be in a panic..Im sure the 32 degree temp doesnt help things right now.

My oldest is about 9 months & the youngest is my black pullet at about 6 months, but I think she is going to out grow all my hens.

Roger,
You have absolutely stunning birds, and your photos are exquisite!

You should use your pictures to make a calendar! I made one with some chicken pictures. Vistaprint.com has really good prices, and it is really easy, too! There are 12 of us friends, and one month was created for each one of us. I got lucky and hit, "Black Friday - Cyber Monday," sale and got calendars for only $4. each. Samples.....

These are awesome!

Vistaprint always has "specials." You can make one calendar for free (pay postage only). I have seen their ad here on BYC at times, too. Anyway, I think they are cool. Heck, everyone needs a calendar, right?! You can also fill in birthdays, anniversaries, etc, on it (at no extra charge).

Thanks Kathy for the comp. I have tried to do the best I could for my birds this year, & these English Orps. are the best breed I have ever had, there not hard to keep up & keep healthy at all, there always happy & content & never any trouble from them, A very good sign of a good quality bird, I am very happy & well pleased with them. Thanks

I bought some eggs from another online website. They were cheaper than I had seen online, so I thought it would be a bargain. They were suppose to be the pure Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons. When they hatched they are all buff colored, they look like buff orpingtons.. Is it possible that they are LCO or did some take advantage of me? There is no barring in these chicks at all, they are 2 months old now. Was wondering if anyone else bought some of these eggs and if this has happen to you too? Thanks for your help. The pics are of the LCO that we hatched, or are they LCO?

Hm... either you've been taken advantage of or they're split to Lemon Cuckoo, but even if they are splits I feel like the cockerels at least should be showing some barring.

I would definitely consult the seller and ask them to explain exactly what they sold you.

Kathy, I love the calendar shots! I was just thinking the other day about wanting to make one of our birds and wondering the best place/price. Gonna check out vista, anywhere else I should check??
