The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Pics
BamaChicken,
You keep raising the bar on the quality of your birds and I don't think I will ever be able to even catch up to you. It's great to see the quality of your birds and Joy's.

Speaking of SL Orpingtons, I found this photo - this is a lovely hen:

FourPawz: The comb on the bird in the picture looks like a rose comb...are you sure it's not a wyandotte?

Jeremy....I've given up trying to wrap my old brain around genetics!

At one point I did think about it, but I doubt I'll ever do it.........I'd love to have some SL orpingtons tho.

I am sorry for just jumping into a thread I really haven't participated much in but these birds are stunning my dream breeds are english style orpingtons wellsummers and faverolles of course faverolles are #1 though.

You know, now that I really look at the out of focus photo, I see the rose comb. It was on the Orpington site, but perhaps it's an Orp/SLW cross. A project bird, maybe? My ability to read Dutch is somewhere south of non-existant.

Just another reason why I wish I had more breeding pens...

Imagine a Silver Laced Blue Orpington, where the bird would have the typical silver lacing but the inside of the feather would be a gorgeous blue instead of black.

Does anyone know how you would start that project?

I have to say, not to derail the thread, but you both have me thinking about it and gazing back and forth between my sl cochins and my orps, seeing the color crossed over (not using my cochins - they are bantams but just looking).

I just love all the English pictures on this thread. Winston and Clementine's dad is so incredible - his chest, oh my all that fluff and size. *sigh* That golden lace is, wow, yummy.

The change in Charlie is incredible and vast - thank you for the pictures. Once he hit 5 months I just wanted to pick him up and squeeze him like the old charmin commercials.

that the Splash is a cockerel.
