The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Here are my newest Orps, I think the general consensus was all Roos. But I'm feeling like the one black looks more Pullet to me now, what do you all think? And, the blue has no fuzz on his butt, what is up with that?
ETA: They are 5 1/2 weeks.

My vote is that the second one is a pullet. That's not a cockerel eye or expression, and look at her legs! Pretty babies!

I have some pullets right now, there heads are so dark they almost look blue in the head area but it goes away slowly got a hen that was that way last year & now she is just as red headed as the rest, & far as breeding the dark birds, it all so depends on what color the rooster is you are breeding to her, a splash roo. would be a good choice to breed to a dark hen, alot of my pullets came dark this year but are getting lighter as they get older & the lacing is just beautiful, I will try to get some pic. of my young ones on here soon, got 24 eggs in the bator now, Like I relay need more but just could not stand to see them go to waste & its way to hot to ship eggs now, its hit 103 here last week. but i will have quite a few young roo. to part with soon only keeping 2 to breed with & Elvis ain't going any where.
Thank you so much for answering my question... :) I have some young SUPER Blue Roos that have this darkness on the comb... They are very very nice and didn't want to cull them if there was a chance this could correct. It would be a crying shame.

Roger..lovin the Elvis...i have a question..i have had blk australorp for over 25 yrs..blk orps from different places for about 6 yrs..this is my first time with blue anything..the E O babies are a dusky grey at this point w blue legs..i know enough to know that the lacing is superb..very pronounced each feather..do they shed out into a bluer color ? im thinking this is the initial bb color will turn more blue later on..it was that last hatch..and the god of chickens smilin on this little poultry keeper..im pretty darn sure they are girls..all feathering out body wise fast ..small pink combs no wattles tiny pink , they dont have the bald patch thing i see on the other bb orps..or like this young man.

i forgot to add to that, husband uses the laptop now for contractor work so its hard for me to take and post pics at the moment..

Very common for boys to take longer to feather... most of them have bare behinds for a while... lol
