If the "brown" (more likely red/gold) doesn't go away, it's considered leakage, which is a color fault. This is seen a lot in Splash males, especially in the hackles and wing bows. If the color persists he shouldn't be used for breeding of any kind, rather he should be culled.
I've only heard of cases in Minnesota & Missouri (east of the Mississippi). It's likely going to or already has spread (& just not discovered yet) to other states, so strict bio security measures should be taken now.Any cases of avian influenza showing up in the south?
