The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

All the pics are great
Jermey looks like you have a nice flock growing out.

Tennessee, YOu need to keep them all till at least 8 months old. YOu will not believe the difference a month can make. Between 6 to 8 months is a huge difference. I have a 7 month old that is changing daily. I was going to keep him anyway but it is amazing. Hoss is months old and I can't imagine how big he will be by 1 year. Prince too. THey are still young. Charlie was amazing after his first molt and I thought he was Fabulous at one yr. don't give them up to quickly. speaking from experience

Kathy you need to get us some updated pics of yours

It's so dang cold here, I think my camera would freeze. Besides that, my chickens are big babies and won't even come out of the coop! I'm not kidding you! I have a few breeds that will come out, but the Orps won't step foot outside in this cold! Big babies!

I'm getting some Fluffy butts, so I can officially join this thread

In looking at my overall plan for breeding BBS orps, I sure could use another pullet ot two.......just saying.

Here's how my hatching went for all my BBS orps. Got 3 chicks from Joy. 2 cockerels (blue & black, black is my keeper), 1 pullet (blue). Ordered APA standard eggs from BYC member gumpsgirl. 6 hatched - 4 cockerells (none keepers....I don't think, I just really love the black UK, Jester) and 2 pullets (both splash). Down to one splash pullet as I gave a splash pair to the neighbor kid who has been drooling over them for months, and now I don't have to worry about leaving town for weekends at the lake this summer. I've already paid my chicken sitter!!

So for all of you with all those extra gorgeous girls in the closet......hint, hint, hint.

:)Hi Guys

Thank you for your kind words on our birds.

After reading this I have a had a word with my vet on AI and she is looking into shipping to the USA for us and what needs to be done and cost.

Will keep you updated on how she does.

That would be fantastic. I would love to give it a try if I don't have to get a second mortgage on the house.
Very kind of you to take the time to try and help us over here. We do love the UK type.

That Sounds Absolutely Marvelous!!!!!!!!!!! WOW...I can tell you as far as I know when dealing with frozen dog semen... A vet has to unthaw the pellets in the straw and complete the AI. I have never used frozen semen so I have no experience with it... I don't know if the vets use something special... or if it was because of the all the paperwork that was required.
I am soo excited
