The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Vickie, we need some more pics from you too! Beautiful birds..Julie, there is nothing like a little chicken therapy to make you feel better , I do the same thing, a log day working in the hospital just dissappears

Here is the English baby that had been attacked by the weasle. At the time it happened we didnt have high hopes he would live, he had butterfly stitchs and was sick for a long time, but he made a full recovery, Chickens are such creatures of habit, from all of the time he spent in the cage for treatment, he still comes in every night and waits for me to put him up in the cage, he can go in with the others..but its a safe place and a habit...the cage is 36"by 30" he was in a a late hatch...Just love them...they are massive birds..

Took a few photos this evening. The birds would not cooperate at all. I needed a break and they were just what i needed. Sat in a chair for and hr watching them. Here is my blue pullet six month old. She is really a pretty girl just a bit dark for showing but will make a great breeder this fall. She is going to be really large.

Another blue cockerel six months old. Trying to decide whether to cull or not. I keep changing my mind daily thinking just keep him another month.

Well get us up some pics so we can see.

Thanks Lynn, That is a nice black cockerel. I had a pair of chicks running the yard that hatched while I was in the Hospital in late May. After they got big enough to leave their mommy they started running the yard. One was attacked by something on the head. I was just hoping the feathers would grow back. had to put them in wire off the ground. Looking good now. I still have them penned and I ended up with a pullet and cockerel. I do miss them on the yard though
Those six month olds are like hound dogs. Every time I open the back door they come running. That big blue cockerel of mine looks like a Turkey running.

im so glad that the one that was attacked is doing OK..that baby you see was also bitten all around the face..classic weasle attack it punctured the tear duct, were so luckey it didnt do any damage to the eye itself..he will always have a teary eye....this has been the year of the predetor up here.i was talking to faulkners who moved up here from alabama..they show waterfowl and a number of chickens..he said he got hit hard over there too, owls, racoons , weasles, just about everything .so they had been going around like us trying to patch everything up..

these english see me pulling in the driveway and your right, they come running like dogs happy to see you..too funny..my husbands freinds get such a kick out of that..lots of belly laughs when they stop up for a beer after work..it should be on americas funniest home vidioes..that big blue you have is a turkey! mine is just starting to look like a turkey..my lord they are wide!! feet are so big you cant beleive it..i need to get pics of the others..
