Hmmm...pics please?I had some built last year for the coop that I built and my hens wont touch them.
Oops, too late@aart, never mind about the question of selling your eggs, I just read your post on the 'giant egg' thread and see that you do. What weight are you going for when you weigh your cartons before sale?
What size and out of what do you make your nesting boxes? I had some built last year for the coop that I built and my hens wont touch them. ALL of my hens lay in the 5 nesting boxes in the main coop. When this next crop of pullets really gets going on laying, its going to get really crowded in there.
I'll get some pics today. Yup on the fake egg thing, the hens go in the coop look at the boxes and the fake eggs, talk to each other about them and then do an about face and head to the other coop to lay!! I tried locking them out of the other coop the other day just to see if they would consider the different boxes, well, you should have heard the racket that they all made in the run. All of them clucking and calling and telling me that there had been a terrible mistake made and I needed to come and fix it, ASAP!Hmmm...pics please?
I assume you tried fake eggs and maybe confinement?
@WVduckchick, pretty nice looking digs for the chooks you got there! What is your flock size now?
