The lacing on the front of the neck and the green color indicates hen. Spaulding messes most people. People that rely on just barring are often disappointed.

Feathers of the neck ... scales gray border = female.
Short toes = female.
short head = female.
That 'hay' = female (picture).

Do hens necks ever look blue, @KsKingBee @casportpony? Peafowl’s neck feathers are also looking less feathery and more furry?
I’ve never seen a blue hen before?
