The other salve that you can try is bag balm and It is sold at feed store and at human pharmacys. If you are worried about chickens ingesting the VetRX, don't substituted Vaseline. It is a petroleum product and not safe for internal use. We can't even get it at the hospital where I work anymore. My Cream Legbar combs suffered last week with the cold weather. The other roosters didn't have the same problem at all.You cna get VetRX at tractor supply, many feed stores if they have it in stock, and also on line.
