I checked eggs last week like friday or something and it was too soon I set them on Monday or Tuesday.  They will be PERFECT at about 10 days when I check them now.  I will take notes and PM you in a couple of days.

Ann I am so sorry. I heard Heirloomorps (Holly) lost a cat too but not sure why. I will let my neighbor know she has like 15 over there.... but she has free range chickens and guinea.

The ticks are soooooooooooooooooo bad here this week. My chickens were going crazy behind the neighbor's house so I went over there and I couldn't even count the ticks on the grass and bushes. Then I took some visiting middle school students out for a lesson on poisonous plants and we all came back covered in ticks. So being the good teacher I am, we had a lesson on ticks! I need to dose my dog with preventative asap even though I never see one on her (Anatolian).

We started tick preventative a month ago. Hopefully the neighbors cats will be ok, one has kittens and one is expecting, one of the kittens is mine.

Ok I have a question. 3 of the six chick's I got on Saturday have died and I'm pretty sure that 2 are going to be dead by morning. I want to call the store tomorrow. Am I in the right to expect them to replace the chicks or refund my money?

So I had a women flake that wanted four trios of my silver sebrights. So with that being said if anyone is intrested pm me. I live in Belfast right outside of lewisburg I am off thur and sat this week. 30 a trio. Dmrippy I need to get your neighbors number to let her know her two hens are waiting...

For those with outdoor cats- there is a feline disease sweeping through Tennessee called bobcat fever. Bobcats carry it and it is spread by ticks that pass it to domestic cats. It is almost always fatal to cats.
My Dodger was fine this past weekend, a little lethargic on Monday and then sick by last night. I took him the vet this morning and they are working on him, but the prognosis is at best 50/50. The vet said she has seen three cats die of it in the past couple of weeks. I am praying that my Dodger is one of the lucky ones that makes it, but i am preparing my heart for the worst.
If you have outdoor cats make sure you are treating them with a tick preventative. I had not treated mine yet because the season is just getting started and our issue has always been fleas and not ticks. Apparently ticks are going to be a huge problem this year.

Soooo... That is my public service announcement for the week. If you are the praying sort i would appreciate your prayers for the Artful Dodger. He's such a good boy.

o no!! I knew the ticks were bad but never heard of this, guess I should get the tick stuff on all the cats, got one that is always outside, and 2 that are indoor/outdoor....thanks for the heads up!!

Thanks for this reminder! As a vet I want to put a plug in here for Seresto collars. They came out last year and they are DA BOMB for flea and tick prevention for cats and dogs. I don't like the idea of putting collars on my cats, but after watching several cats suffer from Cytaux in our vet hospital already this year, all of our outdoor cats and dogs are sporting Seresto. They last for 8 months, so with special pricing and a $20 rebate from your vet, they net down only $5 or $6 per month for excellent (almost 100%) flea and tick control. They are safe, non-stinky, no powder, with a quick release if your pet accidentally gets caught on something with it. Also if your pet loses it before 8 months and you contact your vet, they should replace it. We have an English Setter that runs through the fields all day. Before these collars came out, I was picking 10-15 ticks off of her each day. In the 8 months she wore her collar last year starting in May, I picked a total of ONE tick off of her, and that was on the tip of her ear, at the end of the summer. Other good options for ticks are Advantix for dogs and the new Nexgard for dogs. We are finding that in our area, ticks and fleas are becoming resistant to the active ingredient in Frontline and Frontline Plus (fipronil). I am sorry about your kitty, City Girl. Sometimes they will pull through with good nursing care! Praying for her!

I would check with them and see if they would do that. It can't hurt.
