Well I found a home for the banana jam with the fire department. Always take your shower and pick up your dirty underwear first thing. So having lunch and smoke started coming out the attic. The fire alarm began to screech and so the fire dept was called. So here I am unclean, with dirty clothes in the floor and firemen all over the house. Also, when you live off the beaten path you have to meet them at the gate and escort them in. The worst part was when they went to shut off the breakers, there was cat poop on the floor. When I figure out who did that they have to go to bed without supper. Ducks can't help it but cats do it in some kind of protest.

Discard the cat-poop and the dirt underwear on the floor!

Your attic was on fire?!! 😮

Well it ended up there was no fire. After the firemen crawled around in the attic, they figured out my HVAC sprung a leak and all the smoke was actually Freon oil spraying into the house. Better to have them than not. They were very nice about it.
Be. Very. Careful. With. Freon. Exposure!

We bought our house in Houston in fall of 2008 and the AC wasn't working due to lack of freon. We got it refilled in spring 2009 and it worked all summer. Next spring (2010) same situation, no freon. Another refill and it held up to September. We had the AC replaced and the new one was working until the end of summer 2011 when the freon was gone again. Turned out that the evaporator coil sprung a leak (in the attic) and freon was slowly leaking into the house.
Summary we were exposed to low doses freon for over three years and though it was never confirmed by any medical »eggspert« i am sure that many of our health issues during and after that period were caused by our permanent exposure to freon…
