The Rhodesian Ridgebacks struck again!

I've owned pit bulls, rottweillers, and worked with many other 'dangerous' breeds.

Only dog that bit me enough require stitches was a Chihuahua.

Any breed of dog is dangerous. Any breed of dog can be safe. All depends on the breeders and handlers.

There is no 'yet' anymore than saying your husband hasn't killed anyone 'yet' because humans are the most dangerous animal out there to other humans.

A dog, even a pit, is not predestined to attack. There is no 'yet'.

SO sad that people like that are able to obtain animals. Ridgebacks are generally sweet and wonderful dogs, but they area also work dogs and if left to their own devices by bad owners.....well, as with any dog that's just not good.
I have had trouble adopting shelter animals in the past because I didn't have a "fully fenced" yard and my one cat was behind on one of his shots. Which is fine, except that it makes me mad that the delinquents down the road who leave their animals tied to trees and to fend for themselves always seem to bring home some new animal with no hassle.
Irresponsible people suck.

I did bring a civil suit and won. They don't have to disclose who their insurance carrier is if they are willing to pay damages out of their own pocket. You can't get emotional distress for pet injuries in Nebraska.

Easy easy nathowe and Boyd. I have an "aggressive breed" and they don't harm anyone. Lots of people on this board own lots of different breeds so lets not go slapping at any particular breed, OK?

.

I disagree. Yet should be added here.
Yet! Thats like saying because a bomb is in the street we should leave it there becasue it has not exploded or done anything to anyone. Yet!

Brindle, if you look at my post I agree and also own "dangerous breeds" but since they don't make stupid people wear signs, it wouldn't hurt for those registering or licensing large strong breed dogs bred for protection/attack to have some training. Stupid people wouldn't do that.

You are a responsible dog owner, so I didn't mean to offend you

Let's not make this into another breed discussion. The facts are that three dangerous, untrained dogs who are large enough to bring down and kill an adult human are out of control in a neighborhood. The breed is only really relevant in that it is a strong and very large, muscular dog and able to do immeasurable damage to humans in the neighborhood, in addition to other animals. Sure, a chihuahua can bite and draw blood, but it's unlikely to be able to kill a person. These are 100 lb vicious dogs we're talking about here, no matter the breed.

OOh Man! I just saw this! Grrrr! The dogs need to be put down! Maybe this will be the final straw for officials in your area. Darn! i get mad when i see people keep getting away with this stuff!

Jodyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I saw the thread title, knew it had to be you and my heart was in my throat as I opened to read. I am soooo glad you didn't have anyone get hurt. And I am so sorry about the innocent dog that did get hurt.

The RR's people aren't qualified to care for a pet rock, much less a bunch of powerful predators. I don't relax for even one moment at my place for the same reason.

So, are the RR's friendly towards people, or haven't you tried getting that close? When I was having issues with our neighbors husky, I would try to catch her when I saw her running loose, but she would only get so close to me. Luckily my neighbors weren't completely ignorant like these people are, and they actually handed the dog over to me! Stupid me... Now she's becoming a part of the family because the stinkin husky rescue wouldn't take her!

4 dogs - 4 - we don't need 4 dogs!

ANYWAY... my point being, if they will willfully come to somebody when they are out and about, just make them disappear... Heck, they stole your cat off your own property! By disappear, I mean take them to a shelter or something, not necessarily SSS (even though I DO agree they should be euthanized). A gun might be too loud in this case, which is why I'm suggesting relocating the dogs - to another part of the country

if possible. Is it possible to pretend they are yours and take them to the shelter to have them euthanized?

Just throwing out ideas as I type!

Hopefully the courts will do something about these dogs this time.
