Long lost brothers just one has forgotten to shave 😂
Okay I have to say that is the cutest chirp I have heard in a long time 🐣🐣🐣🐣

Haha yes! Long lost brothers 😂 any chirp is a good one if you haven’t heard it for a while!

So my son is in LOVE with silkies. So we went to a local feed store and bought 6 total. The two alone in the one photo are silkies and the 4 in the middle of the group are also silkies. I was curious if anyone could give me an idea of what they two singled out might look like when they grow up color wise. We just recently hatched out first flock so we are new to the whole process but I am re

One on the left will either be a gold partridge or a silver partridge and the one on the right will most likely be a impure gold (just a gold with more dark on the wing feathers and tail tips) :)

Mine sometimes quotes in an odd way too, strange 😅

Yes definitely post them back here, everyone here loves Silkies (on this thread at least) 😂

I’m hoping to hatch sometime this month too but I’ll just have to see how things go 🤞🏻

Hmmm I was wondering what is the youngest you can show silkies from? 3 months? 4 months?

The youngest I was told for in the main classes is 5 months at the very least, but I’d say probably 6 months would be better :idunno

However, some shows I go to have pullet of the year classes and I’ve entered 4 month olds into them and they’ve done pretty well.

I don’t believe there is actually a strict age, just comes down to when you personally think your bird is ready for the show pen!

Yeah I was just curious really what other people did. I usually only take them to show at around 5-6 months for pullets and 8-9 months for cockerels (takes them a while to bulk out).

Yea cockerels I wouldn’t show until they’re matured as they take longer than pullets. They go through a gross leggy stage until they fill out like you say.

That being said, I never really show males due to me not having the space to keep multiple of them.

I have heard mixed results about keeping multiple silkie cockerels in the same pen. Apparently some get along really well and some don't. I am going to try it next year with Archie and a few of his sons so I will add the results onto the group. I think if they have enough ladies and space they are fine together.
