the name sizzle IS a combination of silkie and frizzle.
and rightfully so because it is a combination of silkie and any kind of frizzled chicken,(breed to silkie standards of corse)
but it get confusing because sizzles are not frizzled silkies like the name imply.
and if you breed a sizzle to a sizzle its great, but if you breed a frizzled sizzle with a frizzled sizzle you could get your self in trouble!!! that extra 2 seconds to type frizzled fills in the whole story. but most importantly for thoughs of us that are trying really hard to get them recognized as a true breed, calling the frizzled counter part of the sizzle breed simple a sizzle will never pass.
on the Facebook sizzle chat page we got the input of top poultry show judges, and all firmly agree smooth sizzles are the only ones that could be called simply sizzles. the frizzled counter part should always be listed as frizzled sizzles just like you would list a frizzled polish, frizzled cochin or frizzled silkie. its going to be a hard habit to break for some but worth doing in the long run for the sake of getting them their proper recognition.
but i don't mean to be bossy, call them what you wish. just wanted to let everyone the reasons why the names are incorrect if you want to show them in poultry shows, and also a tripping point when talking about breeding them. just think if one person thinks the smooths are the only ones simply call sizzles (like they would in a poultry show) and the other person thinks that frizzled sizzles are the only ones simply called sizzles. they could talk in circles when it could have been made clear very early on.
