Uhhhh, I'd have to wait until it's super dark (so no light can creep in from nowhere). I'm guessing you mean candling by opening the incubator, and candling right on the egg turners. I haven't tried it that way, I usually just open the incubator, lift each egg up, but the light under, look inside, and them place them back on their turners

I have never had any issues handling the eggs. Especially since I normally hand turn anyhow. People get too freaked out over the tiniest thing.

Yes, I just candle on the egg turners. And depending on the breed, a lot of them I don't even need full dark in the room. It satisfies my need to know

I hear you on that I sanitize the eggs I incubate *gasp*! Lol.

I used to be horrible, candling every day. It taught me though that those eggs can handle a lot.

Just not 60 hours without power...
