We have also hatched many chicks, but have no idea who is half Easter Egger.
Your Easter eggers are beautiful! :love
Do hatcheries market EEs as Ameraucanas? do pure ameraucanas have more value or something. I feel that I should trust the hatchery as opposed to people on the internet 😂
Hatcheries are trying to make a profit. They don’t care about small inaccuracies. The people on this thread are just trying to spread correct information.
You can do your own research. Look up the American standard of perfection for ameraucanas and see if it matches the hatchery description (and look at lots of pictures of breeders’ ameraucanas).
Can you tell what mine is? I got it from my contractor when it was 1.5 years old. He wasn't sure what it was.

Oh, yes they do. All the time. Actually, unless they are like $20 or more they aren’t likely pure.
True, true. But most of us are chicken keepers who know their stuff and have experienced these things themselves. Hatcheries lie. EEs are cheaper and easier. And they can pawn them of on the unexperienced. I got mine as ‘Ameraucanas’. I knew they were EEs. But I wanted them anyways.

Beautiful!

Cool. What store?
(You don’t have to specify name if it’s a private one, but I’m asking whether it’s a chain or whatever.)
Long ago where I got them got their chicks from cackle.
About 5 or 6 years ago I got them from a place that ordered from Estes (spelling ?) Theres would qualify as EEs in your opinion. But if you know what they needed to be and picked through them you could get birds that didn't have any traits to eliminate them from their SOP. Mostly all I could get were BBS though. Never had one that didn't lay a true blue egg from there either.

My little EE -Henrietta- laid her first little egg today!!! Just over 21 weeks! I have 15 pullets. One laid an egg yesterday, she laid one today and it’s sooo pretty :love:celebrate
