My lone wellie pullet finally started laying for me.
These are eggs # 5 & 6. My wife baked a cake & made eggs sandwiches with the others just can't beat the taste of fresh eggs
Now it's time to start saving them up for my bator

Purple eggs!!! What a novelty! How did that come about?!

I had one that did lay a purplish egg and about a week, she laid normal terra cotta eggs. bummer LOL!

Yes, I agree with Pinkchick...need the news of chickies!

When these purplish colored eggs are wet they look normal and then dry back to purplish hue'd overtone and I have found that it is a very think coating and with copious amounts of scrubbing it does not wash off, the only way I found to remove any of this coating was to sand it off.

Truth be told....I love it when I see one of those purplish eggs in the nest box...the ones I love the most are the Wellie eggs that have this and they are the Terra Cotta color underneath and the purplish color only happens on the speckling or speckles....has anyone ever seen that? I love them...the 2 colors melded together, like they were put on in layers...what a contrast.

BTW: Beautiful eggs everyone! Congrats to all who have layers coming back on board or who have new layers just starting up. It's always egg-citing!

Gorgeous chicks I must say! I've been looking for some breeding eggs overhere but no one is sending eggs by post overhere, and from overseas for just 5 eggs is way to expensive. I must say that the US version has much more bright color's then the ones over here in the Netherlands.

I think that you are good on all of them with the exception of the last chick.....I would say that is a cockerel. The photo is pretty fuzzy but it appears to have a bigger comb and the smudge behind the eye looks like that of a male. Hoping that someone that may be able to see them a bit more clearly comes by and gives their opinion as well.

I wasn't able to get any photos of my kiddos yesterday but I have the camera ready to go this morning and sitting by the door.
