This chicken is not dead

My husband has absolutely no idea how many chickens are in our backyard. Truthfully, I don't know myself. I just count them in groups and never add the total. That way when asked, I can just say "I'm not really sure."
That was my tactic too, until I added up everyone about 2 months ago and kinda panicked.:th

And now I'm setting eggs again this Saturday. Anyone want some chicks in 4 weeks? I'm sure they'll provide you with fresh "This chicken is not dead" opportunities.

As promised...I am pretty sure even though "dead" he might be drooling 🤣

To anyone but me, all of my chickens look alike. They're all little, red bantams, mostly Nankins with one red EE and a couple of her pullets for some extra color in the egg basket. Like most chickens, they don't stay stationary long enough to be counted during the day and sleep in a long, agglomerated line of roosted feathers at night. I'm the only one who knows how many I have . . . and I'm not telling!
