She sounds like she's part parrot to be able to climb the fence! I would like to see that. My sister had a bantam Roo named Baby that could do that too. Crazy little guy he was.I am GOING to get a picture of one of my hens scaling a 6' chicken wire fence - flapping her wings and literally grabbing the wire with her feet as she "walks" up the fence so she can jump over.
Both, just in case. I had a battery not charge and had to plug it in until I got the replacement.. Extra peace of mind.Question, is it better to get a plug in fence charger, a battery powered one or one that can work on both?

The mile rating on fence chargers has no practical application. Joules is a better number to judge by and the actual output can vary because of soil conditions. I was looking at the specs on mine the other day and seen it said 8 joules in moist conditions and less then one joule in dry conditions. It's not on a chicken pen either.I am considering putting an electric wire around the coop the 60 mile fence charger I saw on Craig's list is probably a little strong though.
I agree. We had 2 dogs get into our fence backyard once and were determined to get to my hens. Throwing themselves against the hardware cloth. Thankfully it was attached well and they didn't get in because my chickens literally have chicken brains and were just standing there staring at the 2 giant pitbulls trying to get in to kill them. Not 1 ran to safety![]()
