Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Getting hot early this year. Have to go open ai does in the brooder house today. Darn middle 80's and humid. Had to flip the AC on for the second floor, third has the exhaust fan running and the first has all the wi does open. Seems so darn odd.

Iain, can't wait for that to be in your hands. Offer still stands if you get good results we will resend a new box. Won't stand for poor hatches when a box goes MIA like that. Think we will be borrowing your DH's brooder style for the new ones we need to set up for the goslings. Want to keep the breeds seperate.
SM, going to put together your box today and start padding it. Hubby says he will run it to the PO on Saturday for me if we have everything packed and ready to go. No Mandie eggs yet, if we get any I will toss them in too for you.
Just ordered a butt load of new ID bands (legs) for sorting the geese. Need to get the wing bands ordered. They are the best way to track the hatchlings and what parents they came from.

Good ole Florida... that's why I do NOT live there anymore. lol

I will be sure to give an update on your eggs as soon as they arrive!

Hubby's brooder pens are pretty simple to make and avg. cost is less than $40 each. Let me know if you want more info, I can give you a supply list, etc.

I am converting my grooming room (in the barn) into a grow out room for ducks & geese. I already have power, a water heater & a clawfoot tub with a faucet. So I will be able to put in at least 1 more tub (the old clawfoot type) with drainage going outdoors, with a spray nozzle for easy squeesy cleaning! & a couple brooder pens to.

May I take another moment to whine about my broken ancona eggs? Between Celtic jumping over backwards to make sure I get my eggs delivered safe, and reading about other sellers offering to make things right when you guys receive broken eggs.... it makes me so very sad that I got 9 broken eggs out of 24 and Worth It Farms did NOTHING to try to make it right.

Ouch. I don't think I'll order from them. Did they send you extras?

Iain, you can whine all you want! I can't speak for them, but I don't feel right sending eggs, having the box go missing or destroyed and not replacing the eggs. I put a hold on African eggs for next week incase I need to resend you some.

Candled duck eggs last night, we have 113 LF domestic cookin away for an Easter order. 11 of 12 of the Muscovy eggs that the duck gotten taken are growing now too. Then there are the 6 Emu eggs due around 3/15. Plus two racks of goose eggs and two table top Brinsea packed full.

ABOVE is from just a minute ago !! C'MOM C'MON

Nice to have my brain back ! I hate hate hate any kind of meds.

Well here are pics of my new ancona .....

Jazz and Utah: I showed my hubby your brooder set ups and he's going to make me something similar. We have a BUNCH of floor grade plywood. (the extra thick kind for subflooring) He landed at a garage sale. there's enough to make me a couple brooders and then duck huts for the duck house. Then I can move the duckloo out of there and get to the eggs easier.

Of course I will take pics when all this starts happening. :)
