Yeah, he is lonely. Hubby is home today with some kind of man flu so I set the brooder up by the bed so they could keep eachother company. But what Han really wants is another chicken. I'd buy him a friend except Han is meant to be going to live with his real owner. Who I have not heard from since Han hatched (despite several texts enquiring as to the date and time of Han's transfer to his true home). So that is kinda annoying.

"man flu"... gotcha. And that would be annoying. Looks like Hans might be yours.

In Bakin news:

Just finish my jumbo cake saturday

(18 x24 double layer sheet cake!) 8 pounds of butter and close to 6 pounds of sugar later

starting into my baby shower cake from H#@L this week along with my regular desserts and 50-60 dipped and molded pretzel rods

In egg news i just finished candling my eggs for the hatch tonight and had to pull 13 more eggs (all silkies)

12 infertile and 1 with a blood ring and pulled 4 with blood rings saturday
that means 17 out of my 28 are gonners and almost 1/2 were infertile

that seems like quite a lot to boast awesome fertility

in better egg news all of my other eggs are doing amazing including 7 (chickens) of my own

It's looking like my 12 eggs aren't fertile. What is the deal? I'll give it til tmw. But I should see something by now.

I still cannot find the beak... but this is what I just did. I did not cause any of that blood. I was able to remove inner membrane with warm wet qtip, and used cuticle scissors and tweezers to break off shell and outer membrane that was not touching baby. Baby was peeping at me when I did this!

ON my recent duck egg adventures, the one I couldn't find the bill on turned out to be upside down. You almost have to x-ray the darn things to figure it out, until you've done so many you can tell what your looking at. (I can't read sonograms either)

Today at work was the day from h*ll. My huge convectioin oven didn't work, so a tiny oven to cook everything in.

That was just one of many gifts at work today.

Hope everyone else is fairing better. Good news is all the goose and muscovy eggs are alive. (I havn't candled Erins new ones yet)
