Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

dg just so you know the yolk isnt connected to the ducks vent.
its connested to sumthin similar to a belly button,
the vent is lower.

Ok, good to know. I was pretty sure it wasn't THE vent, but some sort of vent?..... Belly button?

Little man is doing good. Very lonely. I feel so bad for him. I tried to put my "going broody" duck with him. But she tried to kill him. So that was a no go.

Julie, then how come my silver WH were sexlinked? Do you have the storys guilde to raiseing ducks? It doesn't say anything about that in there.

No, not her fault at all. Never acused her. But it was her drake that threw all boys. I might still get them, not sure. Maybe it was ment to be, and I'm awesome at hatching drakes. I didn't say i wasn't gonna get anymore cause it was her fault, I just screwed up pretty bad

. I just can't do another hatch I don't think.

I told her that I was happy with her eggs, and some other nice stuff about her eggs, and ducks. I haven't told her yet that her ducks threw all boys.

That's funny, i think we got them from the same person and mine were all female, and i was hoping for one drake out of it

but i also only had 6 make it to lock down (out of 20) 12 infertile

. they were gorgeous eggs too and none of them broke in shipping

Hey QJ! These are the Silkies from the farm:

My boss loves them, but they belong to our former poultry guru who is also a member here. She's trying to clear some space at her place to take them home. Their eggs look just like a BEI egg. I wonder if I'd get any silkie-feathered ducklings if I crossed a BEI and a silkie?

i think i'm in love

Morning All - Glad to hear of the goosie progress going on.

I woke up to a happy surprise today. I had button quial due Wed. night, but had given up on them anyway, becasue they felt so hollow. Well, woke up this morning to a non stop squick, and couldn't figure it out. There is one tiny baby button quail running around my bator right now. He'll have to stay there until after I get off work at one, and he's a day and a quarter late, but I'll take it!

Julia (tiny DD) is going to be so surprised!!! Pics later.

they are so cute! my mixed duck looks A LOT like your goosie closest in the pic

I won't be disapointed with anything concerning this goose. She could have no feathers and I'd still love her! Such a personality! She is the hubby's favorite. (And that's saying a lot).

I just went out to pet her, she's freeranging in the yard right now, and she picks a dandelion and eats it. Then she gets this look on her face like, "YUM!" and runs to the next one, eats it, and now she's frantically running to anything yellow in the yard to eat it. I literally laughed out loud at her.

that is so cute! i am trying to get hubby to let me have goosies!

Update!! African 1 and Toulouse 1 both have beaks at external pip location. My african is peeping and made its first crack at shell just now. I can see what I think is African 2's beak, but is not fully up in aircell. Toulouse 2 is making progress into air cell, but do not think it has internally pipped yet. I am beginning to bump humidity for lockdown now.

Toulouse 3 is still in cooker and making very slow progress compared to the others.

Dandelions are extremely nutritious! When my special horse was a baby, I'd take him for walks like a dog.... and we'd go dandelion hunting.

My oldest ducks and goslings discovered the joys of BOSS today. So cute!!
Nutritious AND she's making my yard look better! Win win! My neighbor is going to want to borrow her!

I thought you had a couple others from this hatch too? And how did you get the puter back?

Yay for beaks and pips and movement and progress!

I have a good feeling about these 4 eggs in lockdown. Fingers crossed the only time I will have to open the bator in the next 48 hours is to put baby #5 in it!

Have I mentioned yet today how much my SA makes my heart melt the way she wants to crawl into my hand to nap?

Celtic, thank you for this precious gift.
