Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Hey DG, figured out where I was confused, lol. Bill sexing can be done with both gold/silver but is only 90% accurate. Color sexing is 100% accurate, but it has to be a gold drake over a silver hen.

Someone stop me... I feel a stress attack coming on over my toulouse eggs.

yay for tiny determand birds! btw... did you get the email?
Yes, I did! Thanks! I've asked my computer guru #1 (my BB Kevin), and she said you'll have to upload it to somewhere like youtube (where it will help lots of folks), than we can make a link to your great video here....

You want me to do it, or can you upload it to youtube first? It is yours, so I think it has to be you. THEN, we can post it here.

Great shadowing video, ya'll!

I won't be disapointed with anything concerning this goose. She could have no feathers and I'd still love her! Such a personality! She is the hubby's favorite. (And that's saying a lot).

I just went out to pet her, she's freeranging in the yard right now, and she picks a dandelion and eats it. Then she gets this look on her face like, "YUM!" and runs to the next one, eats it, and now she's frantically running to anything yellow in the yard to eat it. I literally laughed out loud at her.

Man, now I'm totally hyped about my geese getting here!

Update!! African 1 and Toulouse 1 both have beaks at external pip location. My african is peeping and made its first crack at shell just now. I can see what I think is African 2's beak, but is not fully up in aircell. Toulouse 2 is making progress into air cell, but do not think it has internally pipped yet. I am beginning to bump humidity for lockdown now.

Toulouse 3 is still in cooker and making very slow progress compared to the others.

That's great Iain!

Iain and Celtic - my eggs are doing great, except the air cells seem a bit small to me still. It's been raining here for like a week, minus a coupld of days, and I can't get my humidity below 50% right now. Any thoughts???

Julie and SM - loved the pics

Sue... a little bit, yes. In the last hour, 2 of my toulouse eggs have made major progress towards internal pipping, so I moved them to hatcher. But I have a horrible feeling of dread that my 3rd toulouse baby is backwards.

I'm trying, QJ! It's just that the one baby definitely does not look to be turning right. It has made no progress up back of aircell and feels extra heavy at pointy end.

How do you know if it went the wrong way???? mixed ! is craking slow but stead so no worries there, Ebdem is rocking hard and has internally pipped..... mixed 2 is barely shadowing but still moving

Here are button quail #1 next to a dice, to give you an idea of his tiny size.....

Here is quail #1 this morning, under his 25 watt bulb with his good buddy fuzzy hair band and tiny bobble head dog...... (yeah, they are way bigger than him)

Here is the other baby, who was a bit shrink wrapped, so I just peeled back his membraine, and he jumped out into my hand a few seconds after I snapped this! I hope we get some more!!!

These babies are SOOOO tiny!!! The eggs are about 1/2" tall. If my courturnix look like popcorns w/toothpick legs, this guy looks like he could hide inside a popcorn, but their feet are freaking huge for thier size!

They are so pretty, Julie! What is she?
love.gif

She is a silkie x something. She's smaller than the silkies, has a straight comb and feathers, but has feathered feet, black skinf, 5 toes, blue ears, beards, muff, crest, etc. She was sold to me as a silkie and the only other birds I saw were bantam cochin/frizzles so either she is a weird unmutation or some roo jumped a fence.

Marty, that is so gosh darn cool how tiny they are! I thought SA was teeny next to all the day older anconas.... but she is a giant compared to your babies.

How I have been able to tell if egg wrong way: If I have an egg that is cruising strong up to lockdown day and I see all other eggs with dramatic air cell dip and babies moved way up into bottom side of air cell.... and then I have 1 or 2 eggs that have only made small drop in air cell, have barely crossed day 21 line on bottom, but are vibrating hard to try to pip... these eggs are probably positioned backwards. Certain problem aircells also seem to be a forewarning that the baby will not be able to position right when developing.
