I have an EMU BABY scratching at his/her shell !!! I can feel them rocking and a rolling, TOOOO STINKIN COOL!!!

Yesterday I had to say my final goodbye to Bruce Campbell the First, my khaki campbell drake. We didn't know how old he was when we brought him home and yesterday he passed away peacefully in his sleep with his bill tucked under a wing. Goodbye, my little buddy.

Now I have a bad case of hatch-itis, two breeding pens that aren't cooperating (in one the girls are molting and in the other the drake isn't doing his job). No cash for hatching eggs for another two weeks and now I have to find a new drake for my KC girls. I think they were mourning today. All the girls were in a group talking with each other quietly.

Argh. Need more eggs, need more babies!

Julie and Psue, how much snow did you end up with? We got well over a foot. I'm OK with the occasional impressive 4-6" we get, but this is.... I practicially had to carry the goat to the milk room, the snow is over 2' deep in that area between barn and garage room. Its facing North, with a fence to the south, and the space between the building is 20' tops, so basically all the snow funneled in there. The poor goat's back is only to my knees, which is the height of the snow. Other places only have 14" or so. I think we got it worse than a lot of the other cities not far away.

About the same here. Most of the yard's about 10-12", but the middle of our yard where the chicken yard is has close to 2 feet. I'm sure not ready for more, lol.

If you find one, let me know! I'm not going to be out that way for a few weeks though. Unless I skip the seed swap and my friend has your eggs earlier rather than later.

I'm kind of hoping to know the age of whatever drake I get this time. I had no idea I had bought a middle aged drake last time.
